Hokusai The Thirty Six Views of Mount Fuji Notecards, 20 Blank Greeting Cards with 4 Different Stylesbest
Product Description
The artist Katsushika Hokusai began to produce his manga (sketches) in 1813. He worked prolifically, making drawings of every aspect of Japanese life, and by 1832 he considered himself fully capable of creating designs that would be more popular than Ando Hiroshige's Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido. Beginning the following year, Hokusai brought forth The Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji, which became an immediate success. Among the first ten prints of the series were The Great Wave Off Kanagawa and Red Fuji, well received then and still well know today.Thirty-six Views ultimately comprised forty-six designs, title notwithstanding. Hokusai continued to design prints, calling himself "the art-crazy old man," until his death. But The Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji is thought to be the pinnacle of his art.The images on these notecards are reproduced from prints in the James A Michener Collection at the Honolulu Academy of Arts. The collection was a donation from the noted author; art connoisseur, and benefactor.Assorted cards from the Honolulu Academy of Arts featuring art work by Katsushika Hokusai.
