2 of 2 people found the following review helpful Terrible video card., This review is from: EVGA GeForce GT 520 2048 MB DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 DVI/HDMI/VGA Graphics Card, 02G-P3-1529-KR (Personal Computers) My GT 430 just went south this morning. I went to the local Fry's and picked up the EVGA GT 520 2GB card. The price was fair, and I needed a new one, so I grabbed it and came home. After installing the card, I noticed a huge difference in game performance, and not for the better. My GT 430 ran Portal 2 flawlessly at 1920x1080 with all settings at High or better. The EVGA 520 was slow and sluggish at this level. Only after paring down the graphics and effects was I able to achieve the same fluid gameplay, but at a heavy cost. I tried a couple of other games on it as well, as well as multiple attempts to tweak my settings, but after an hour or so I knew this was not the card for me. I took it back to Fry's and picked up a replacement GT 430.DO NOT BUY THIS CARD. If you're looking for gaming apparatus, look elsewhere, and if you're not, there are other cards at lower prices with the same less-than-stellar performance. 5 of 7 people found the following review helpful Not a good card. Buyer beware, research specs first!, Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: EVGA GeForce GT 520 2048 MB DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 DVI/HDMI/VGA Graphics Card, 02G-P3-1529-KR (Personal Computers) This card is not worth the money. Save yourself the headache and buy the GT 430 instead. The GT 430 has more cores, is faster and has similar system requirements for less money! Good graphics for the price, By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: EVGA GeForce GT 520 2048 MB DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 DVI/HDMI/VGA Graphics Card, 02G-P3-1529-KR (Personal Computers) I recently installed the Microsoft Flight Simulator X in my Dell Optiplex 745 computer and, to my disappointment, the graphics of the game was so bad that the game was not playable. The on-board graphics of my Dell computer is not meant for games. I decided to upgrade the graphics of the Dell computer with this EVGA GeForce GT 520 graphics card. Installation is easy. You don't need to be a certified computer tech to install it. Generally, this is what you do:Pop open the computer cover. Before you open the bag and touch the graphics card, wear an anti-static wrist band and ground yourself on the metal case of the computer. This is IMPORTANT because static electricity from your body can zap the card before you install it. It may also be a good idea to avoid standing on carpet while doing the installation because carpet generates static. Remove the existing graphics card of your computer by lifting the plastic clicker on the left and pull the old card out. (In case... Read more |
